Dear April Stewart, Owner & Operator, Landlord Legal, On behalf of Canadian Real Estate Wealth Magazine, CREW Online and Key Media International, we want to thank you for taking time to participate at THE INVESTOR FORUM 2018 brought to you by CIBC on Saturday, April 7th. Your time and support is extremely important to us and we are grateful to have you to share your expertise and knowledge. The event was a true success and we’ve had plenty of positive feedback! We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we were delighted to host you at the forum. We look forward to working with you again!
Hi April, thanks for your professional service to help me to evict my bad tenant. She was a nightmare for my family and other tenants. I appreciate your advice and your strategies that you provided me before, during and after the eviction process. I thought I gave up with the tenant but you saved me at the last minute by your professional working and your understanding of bad tenant’s behaviour. You know what should do to help me calm down the tenant and finally convince her to leave. I am happy using your service, I know that I made the right choice working with you to solve my problem.
p.s.: To any unlucky landlord like me, I highly recommend to contact April to get help on your case.
Thanks again, April!
We chose to rent out our home. We thought we had chosen wisely with a couple in their 50’s that seemed responsible. For the first 4 years it was good. Rent was often slow but we received it.
We did not receive rent for December of 2016 nor January or February of 2017. We were unsure what to do. We sent out a couple of N4 to encourage them to move out. It is hard to deal with this, when you are 4 provinces away.
We were home on the Bruce Peninsula for my mother’s funeral and saw a sign for Landlord Legal to evict bad renters. We called the number on the billboard; it was the best move we made.
April was invaluable in helping us through this difficult time.
April walked us through the process and made it easy. She answered our questions, no matter how trivial, sometimes the time change could be challenging.
It took 7 months but we now have our home back thanks to April and Landlord Legal.
Our tenants were surely from hell and they made sure that for five years we lived through hell. We tried working things out with them thinking they were reasonable and human with no success. We gave up and lived through it for five years!
The postdated cheques never worked at all so they paid whatever they felt like and when they felt like by placing cash or money order under our door mat. We requested they stop coming to our home but they did not listen. They told lies and almost every month there was always something that made them delay payment and not able to pay rent in full. They faked their own sickness and hospitalization, and death or hospitalization of family members. They even lied saying their younger son died of anaphylactic shock from eating peanut at the local school. They gave the details of the funeral home and the church service for the burial of their son that never happened!
The amount of rent owed slowly accumulated and towards the end of last year they owed over $10,000 in rent. Of course once we took them to the Board, they stopped paying altogether and it took almost six months to evict them from the house.
The lies continued even after we took them to the Board. They missed the hearing stating they were hospitalized and had liver transplant surgery! When we finally got the eviction Order, they went and stayed the Order with a doctor’s note indicating they had a major kidney surgery and was ordered to stay bed ridden for 10 days.
By this time Ms. Stewart was very familiar with the lies. She quickly contacted the doctor who confirmed in writing that the note was not written by her and that she had not seen this individual since 2013! This was the case saver!
It pains our hearts knowing that this tenant can get away with all this in a civilized society and is out there on to the next unsuspecting, hard working Canadian citizen who is just trying their best to build this nation.
Thank you April. We could not have done it without your help! Keep on the good work and continue to help others.
To whom it may concern, we have had the pleasure of working with April Stewart for all of our landlord/tenant needs and she has always been such a professional, and always gave us professional advice in all matters regarding any issues we had with disgruntled tenants, she even provided an amazing service for us in court representing our client where a tenant would not leave the premises when given proper notice and therefore the Sheriff was involved, April handled this with maturity, calmness and professionalism. We always referred April to other landlords for their landlord/tenant issues without hesitation. To whomever is causing this grief, shame on them! April Stewart is an upstanding professional legal adviser to many!!
I could have never imagined how hard it is to evict someone until I was faced with having to do it myself. It wasn’t until I started the process that I realized that it is impossible to do on your own without proper legal counsel. There are so many “t’s” and “i’s” that need to be crossed and dotted and if you miss one, you could lose a lot of time and money. That is when I contacted Landlord Legal.
The best part about April Stewart and her team at Landlord Legal is that they’re specialists. Evicting “bad” tenants for “good” landlords is all they do! I could have NEVER evicted my bad tenant on my own. He was a professional con who played the legal system with expertise. But what my bad tenant didn’t know was that April is more diligent and a lot smarter than he was. April’s a hard working, super persistent woman who is at the top of what she does and gets the job done, period.
I hope I never have to use April’s services again but should I ever need to, you better believe that the only person I will call before anyone else is “The Terminator!”
I first was introduced to April Stewart of Landlord Legal while awaiting my first hearing. At that time I did not have representation and was wondering if it was necessary. I was in a room full of tenants, landlords and lawyers and one by one I watched the cases go before the board member and for the most part was not impressed. I found many of the lawyers were not prepared, had the wrong financial numbers and their papers were scattered … and then there was April. April was with her clients waiting like myself and trying to calm her clients, who were clearly worried. I watched as she presented the case and was impressed. My case had been dismissed but I had received word that another case would be filed and my previous tenant was asking for a significant amount of money. Before leaving the court room I introduced myself to April and asked for her business card, just in case. Sure enough, my previous tenant filed her case and was asking for over $4000.00 in compensation. Floored, I called April to discuss how to proceed. April was very knowledgeable and within 10 minutes of our first meeting I knew I had made the right decision in contacting her. The case went to trial and when it was all said and done, the tenant received less than 20% of what she was asking for. I credit my success with the case to April; she is a pleasure to work with and was always professional.
GOD bless you and keep you safe,
Hire her, you will benefit greatly.
All the best in the New Year.
